I’m Mary Post and I live in Yarmouth, Maine. I’ve been a creative person my whole life, the kind who lies awake in the wee hours working out a design or the colors for a project.
For most of my adult life I owned and taught at a preschool, where daily art with the students kept my creative energy going. Since handing off the school and moving to Maine, I’m finally focusing on my own art.
I love vivid, bright color, and I’m inspired by the coast and all the wonders that live in and around it. I try to bring both to every piece, and I hope they bring you joy.

1. Yupo paper, washed
Each piece starts on smooth Yupo paper that has been washed with isopropyl alcohol.
2. Ink, by the drop
Bold, highly fluid alcohol inks go on with a dropper and bloom into a watery look no other medium has.
3. Coaxed into creatures
The challenge is containing the inks into sea creatures. The finished paintings then go onto glasses, trays, towels and more.
I want every piece to do right by the place that inspires it. When you take one home, this is what you’re supporting.
I’m a big believer in supporting local. I love being part of local craft fairs, farmers markets and festivals, and I choose vendors as local as possible who are socially and environmentally responsible.
I prioritize American-made, earth-friendly and women- or family-run businesses. Every product has been tested by my family at home to make sure it stands the test of time and is easy to care for.
Both Underwater Wonders books are printed on recycled stock, and a portion of every coloring book sold supports ocean conservation.
This year I illustrated a trolley keepsake for Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude, and you’ll find me at Art in the Barn in Yarmouth alongside other local artists.
